Album Artwork Concept for Chestnut – “Banana Moon Serenade”

The album cover illustration for Banana Moon Serenade, the new release by the Berlin-based jazz duo Chestnut, was created through an experimental and playful design process that mirrors the duo’s innovative sound. The artwork features a hand-drawn banana peel reimagined in abstract forms and cool blue tones, symbolizing Chestnut’s approach to jazz: familiar at first glance, yet full of unexpected twists.
By combining loose ink sketching, minimalist shapes, and textured paper aesthetics, the design embraces improvisation—much like the duo’s music. Every element was intentionally kept minimalistic to let the illustration breathe while still conveying a sense of motion, rhythm, and creative freedom. This experimental visual style reflects the character of the album itself, offering a bold and artistic interpretation of Chestnut’s unique sonic landscape.
